On view through April 1, 2012, A Bigger Splash: Painting after Performance at London's Tate Modern considers two different approaches to the idea of canvas as stage for acting. Work by Jackson Pollock and David Hockney is contrasted, as are photographic projects by Niki de St Phalle and Cindy Sherman. The exhibition, as a whole, proposes a new way of looking at younger artists who draw on action painting and the idea of the stage set.
