Not every great brand got there overnight. If there are two people that embody the New York hustle perfectly, it's Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne of Public School and its more streetwear-oriented offshoot, Black Apple. For years they've honed their design talents and urban-informed aesthetic into both lines. Dark colors reigned supreme and utilitarian clothes with a downtown cool guy factor was the overall vibe. Maybe that's why when they held their first New York Fashion Week Presentation earlier this year, they enlisted buzzed-about musician Twin Shadow to model the clothing and compose the music. Meanwhile, J. Cole was spotted rocking a Black Apple jacket on Jimmy Fallon while Chow and Osborne just dropped a BANY collab with the New York Knicks. Oh, and they also managed to drop a Public School denim line and a collab that benefits undereducated children. How's that for a banner year?
