Vintage Footage of San Francisco in the 1950s

Times sure have changed.

As part of their regular "Staff Picks" series, Vimeo highlighted this awesome short film by Jeff Altman showing what different parts of San Francisco looked like in the 1950s. From the way people dressed to the trollies, cars, and architecture, SF was definitely a different place. The film appears warm and old, which gives off a sense of nostalgia throughout each scene.

Altman says he discovered the footage on a reel labeled "Alameda 1958," which happened to have various urban scenes in the Bay. He says, "This footage features only my grandfather; both behind and in front of the camera."
