Disney Animates Fashion's Biggest Stars for Barneys

Besides being an ad-lib you hear on DJ Holiday's mixtapes, Holiday Season also means the unveiling of flagship store windows. This year, Barneys partnered with Disney to produce a brief cartoon that merges the worlds of the Magic Kingdom and high fashion. The animated short will play on a loop in the windows of the flagship location on Madison Avenue, and features favorites from the two realms acting out Minnie Mouse's fantasy of playing a starring role in Paris Fashion Week.

Minnie spies a fabulous Lanvin dress while window shopping and begins daydreaming about rushing off to shows alongside other glamorous power players like Sarah Jessica Parker and Carine Roitfeld. After granting the photogs a few snaps, Minnie pardons herself from the street style fiends and heads backstage for make-up and hair with Cruella de Vil. Then, just after Alber Elbaz of Lanvin and Nicolas Ghesquière, soon-to-be formerly of Balenciaga, put the final touches on Minnie and Mickey's looks, Tinker Bell comes through with magical fashion dust (not the kind you normally see at Paris Fashion Week) and transforms her crew into the world's hottest runway models. Minnie struts in Lanvin, Snow White rocks Nina Ricci, Daisy Duck sashays in Dolce & Gabbana, Goofy stuns in Balmain, and Mickey Mouse kills his Balenciaga look. The front row is packed with attentive tastemakers like Bryanboy, Anna Della Russo, and Captain Hook.

The cartoon took a year to create, and is nothing short of a Holiday miracle since every participant who was depicted had to sign away the rights to their likeness and Disney's artistic interpretation. Perhaps that's why a certain American editor who is normally a front-row fixture chose to skip out the imaginary Minnie Mouse show?
