Born in Detroit, AJ Fosik is slowly becoming an American folk legend. His ferocious sculptures, each made of hundreds of pieces of individually cut, vividly varnished wood, celebrates the potential of human creativity. Fosik draws from a wide range of cultural traditions and icons. His work, which has thrilled us regularly, has a distinct power and the continual refinement of his aim is apparent in each new show.

Lamplighter to the Promised Land runs through December 8, 2012.

Guerrero Gallery, 2700 19th Street, San Francisco
