Leo Villareal's BUCKYBALL installation is set to open in Madison Square Park on October 25, 2012. It will tower 30-feet high, feature two nested spheres made of 180 LED tubes, and illuminate the park in the shape of a carbon 60 molecule.

Villareal will also light the San Francisco Bay Bridge later this year and has permanent installations on both the exterior of BAM's Peter Jay Sharp Building and the Bleecker/Lafayette station. It's only a matter of time before his work is felt outside of NYC, too.
