A Scary Satellite Photo of Hurricane Sandy Approaching the East Coast

Frankenstorm is on the way.

This image of impending Hurricane Sandy was taken last night via NASA's Earth Observatory satellite. Said to be one of the most powerful storms in recent memory, the Hurricane is crawling up the eastern seaboard of the United States.

This specific time-lapse video was taken from 22,300 miles above the planet’s surface. This morning, Hurricane Sandy was upgraded back to a category 1 hurricane after dropping to a tropical storm overnight. Most fear that Hurricane Sandy will combine with two separate winter weather systems after making landfall to create a “Frankenstorm” of gale-force winds and 1-3 feet of rain and snow across the American northeast. Only time will tell, so get prepared east coasters.
