With her first solo exhibition at LeBasse Projects, Japanese artist Yumiko Kayukawa sends a positive message after the tragedy of the earthquake that hit her homeland in 2011. By age 16, Yumiko had debuted a Manga feature, and her work continues to draw from the style infusing with it elements of American pop culture and traditional Japanese motifs. All are evident in her latest paintings. Click the thumbs to check out a selection.
