The Queen Of England Purchases Four Andy Warhol Paintings Of Herself

The latest additions to Buckingham Palace.

Queen Elizabeth II purchased four famous Andy Warhol portraits recently, and the news is stirring up a lot of questions. The monochrome screen-printed paintings show the young Queen posing for an official portrait used during her Silver Jubilee celebration in 1977.

They were officially bought by Britain's Royal Collection Trust for around £150,000 each, which some critics are calling a conservative buy. Even if the Queen and Trust could buy any artwork they want for investment or enjoyment, it seems pretty obvious that she'd want these flattering portraits of herself, too.
