This week in Paris, architect and designer Jean Nouvel unveiled a new collection of aluminum chairs for American furniture manufacturer Emeco. Famed for furniture that lasts, and for pioneering efforts in reclaimed and recyclable materials, the firm teamed with Nouvel to produce one of their lightest offerings yet. Making aluminum chairs since 1944, the material is nothing new to Emeco, but the curve of the back gives new life to an old idea. Nouvel's relationship with Emeco follows on architect collaborations with Norman Foster and Philippe Stark.
