On September 13, 2012, Mayor Bloomberg's proposed New York City soda ban goes to vote. In response, Mountain Dew and New York Art Department have launched a creative local outdoor campaign tilted "PROHIBITION: NEW YORK CITY." The posters feature an imaginary 17oz can (the ban would limited sales to containers 16oz and smaller) and utilize Mountain Dew's iconic "wave" logo of the 1970s and 1980s. Call it good humored, political pop art. Look for it in neighborhoods throughout Manhattan... and if you see a poster snap a photo and tag #dewyorkcity on Instagram.
