After five years of construction, a new space at the Louvre opened to the public welcoming Islamic art to the Visconti courtyard. The Department of Islamic Art is the result of a collaboration with architects Rudy Ricciotti and Mario Bellini, and contains 18,000 artifacts ranging from the 7th century to the 19th century.
