"Modern Inkers: Experimentation in Comics" At AIC

The fine art of the funny pages revealed.

None

Modern Inkers details the steady evolution of the comic from Sunday funnies to the pioneering efforts of Lionel Feiniger and beyond. The influence of major art movements is apparent throughout the Art Institute Of Chicago's collection, housed in the Ryerson and Burnham Libraries, and this exhibition proves the fruits of an active effort to document comic art. Included are underground and contemporary artists who have experimented not just with forms but avenues of publication.

On view through September 24, 2012 at the Art Institute Chicago.
