Celtic Football Club was founded on November 6, 1887 in Glasgow's St Mary's Church. 125 years later, the club and Nike celebrate a landmark anniversary with a special commemorative kit. Set for first on field appearance on Oct. 2, the uniform replicates the strip worn by Celtic during their very first match on May 28, 1888. A white shirt with black collar backed with green pairs with black shorts and black and green hooped socks. The original crest has also been redesigned to respect the team's origins and Irish heritage.
Though the look has historic appeal, the design is packed with contemporary innovation. Each kit is made using up to 13 recycled plastic water bottles. Additionally, bonded t-bar junctions support critical seams and welded inner seams are employed to improve comfort and performance.
Celtic are reigning Scottish league champions.
