Don't Miss Alex Gingrow's Exhibition At Mike Weiss Gallery

Art world humor for the win!

Chelsea is a barren land in August. We know as well as you do. However, Brooklyn-based Alex Gingrow's All the money IS in the label shuns that notion and provides the types of art world laughs that demand a trip to 24th street. Manipulating gallery labels, Gingrow pokes fun at Chelsea's core and the personalities and institutions that rule New York's art market. His quips are biting, and even when overtly navel gazing aren't so, so alienating as to exclude casual viewers from the joke. The only shame is that these pieces are on view during a quiet season.

This is Gingrow's first solo show, if it doesn't burn too many bridges expect to see much more in the future.

Catch it before September 1, 2012.

Mike Weiss Gallery, 520 West 24th Street New York, NY.
