Liverpool FC have worn purple before. However, the color was limited to goalkeeper kits sported by David James in 1994/95 and 1995/96 and two years ago by Pepe Reina. Purple is back on the field players for 2012/2013, and fans can at least take some satisfaction in knowing the shirt is a third option (marked primarily) for Europa League fixtures).

Warrior, the new kit supplier, calls the color Nightshade. On the sleeves, they've added a bold graphic print... akin to early 2000s tribal tattoos. Woah. Liverpool was looking strong with the new home and away kits. This kit, however, is a fail.
