In what is arguably one of the more interesting "Critical Shopper" pieces as of late, former Complex editor-turned New York Times writer Jon Caramanica visits two of New York's trendiest surf shops: Saturdays Surf in SoHo and Pilgrim Surf + Supply in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Despite the lack of Point Break references and the complete and utter absence of the words "brah" and "chill," Caramanica provides a good critique of the products offered by both stores. He also talks about the customer service level at both stores, which judging from the article, is pretty much non-existed at Saturdays. Regardless, it puts both urban surf shops in an interesting context, and is pretty damn funny. [The New York Times]
