The Future Of Magazines?

None

With print dying a slow a painful death at the hands of various online entities (sounds more professional than "blogs", no?) publications are scrambling to entice new readers, reconnect with those current and past and keep up with the ever advancing culture of technology that dominates our world. We've seen digital covers, web exclusives and, now, the prospect of a fully online integrated issue. GQ, never ones to slack on updating their men's fashion rag (they're already a large tablet presence), have announced that their upcoming September issue (Fashion's biggest/most important/most expensive/highest rate of return month) will be "live." From the well dressed horses mouth, "Every advertisement, and some of the editorial content will feature print-to-mobile capabilities; opening up a whole world of bonus content." There's also a free GQLive app, for all of you who have finally moved on from your StarTAC, available August 21. There's already been mention of an "augmented reality platform", perfect for anyone who thinks 1984 is 28 years overdue.
