Evisu Kamome

Brand: Evisu
Design Signature: Painted seagull on back pocket

When Hidehiko Yamane first founded Evisu Genes in 1991, small production runs allowed him to handpaint the kamome (Japanese for "seagull") on the back pockets of the jeans. Around 2002, the brand gained some traction from the rising demand for premium denim, and co-signs from rappers like Jay-Z. Collaborations with companies like Puma followed, and soon cool guys could recognize their own out in the wild.
