Designs have been unveiled for the 2012 Serpentine Pavilion. An annual impermanent build, the Pavilion is designed by an architect without a major building in the UK. This year's selection is a banger, bringing the combined forces of Herzog & de Meuron and Ai Weiwei together for the first time since the Birdcage at the Beijing Olympics. The trio are preparing a magnificent semi-subterranean affair, which promises to be among the great Olympic structures (though only tangentially related) of 2012. Click the thumbs to view the design.
