No doubt about it, we love Evan Hecox (we named him one of the 100 Most Influential Artists Of The Complex Decade). Through acrylic and gouache on vintage newspaper, Hecox's recreates memories of Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn for his Dark Island, on view now at Joshua Liner Gallery. Most works are representation, but he branches out in Five Boroughs, manipulating some eye-popping font to great effect.
Dark Island is on view through June 23, 2012.
