27. Skinny Ties

The skinny tie came back with a vengeance, partly due to fashion designers like Hedi Slimane, who introduced razor-sharp silhouettes in his Dior Homme collections, and also when the show Mad Men hit the airwaves, spurring many men to start dressing themselves like gentlemen in well-cut suits with good proportions, instead of the oversized sacks they used to go to work in. That was probably the point where the skinny tie shifted from hipster staple to the status quo. Now, wider ties are considered a bit avant-garde, if not totally lame.
