Artist She One a.k.a. James Choules contributed to the WideOpenWalls project in the Gambia, West Africa, turning 14 villages into living arts projects. From the photos alone, it looks like he's been successful at creating social uplift and rejuvenating these neighborhoods. He says, "What was really interesting was when you would go back to a painting you would find a group of kids sitting under it, particularly in the villages, the works become like status symbols and a place to hang out.” [Graffuturism]
