Inspired by the works of 17th-century paintings, and the likes of Edward Hopper, artist Max Ferguson has spent the past 30 years painting portraits of his father, Richard Ferguson. Max began using his father as a subject back in 1982, capturing his pops on subway platforms, newspaper stands, billiards halls, and chowing down at Katz's deli. Max opened "In Painting My Father" earlier today at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion Museum in Greenwich Village.
