Down on the Mexican border, a community media center and gallery, Mexicali Rose, has been producing thrilling multimedia work since its founding in 2007. Rooted in a grounded expression of barrio life, the innovative space has produced experimental and documentary film, photographs and collages by renowned artists Pablo Castaneda and Julio Torres, and original murals by Fernando Corona.

These artists, and the spirit of the space, are currently celebrated in an exhibition Radical Localism, on view at New York's Artists Space though May 27, 2012. The full range of the center, and some glorious art video, exemplify the possibilities of the Pueblo Nuevo-based center.
