In 1859, Michael Thonet successfully commercialized the process of steam bending wood. His No. 14 chair is now ubiquitous (google it if the name alone isn't enough for recognition). Thonet, despite being everywhere, is not everything when it comes to bent wood. A new generation of designer is finding the technique and creating unique, original pieces. Korean designer Dohoon Kim is a terrific example. These chairs have sensual curves and smartly incorporate arches for balance and strength. [It's Nice That]
