Over 2000 wooden batons line the inside of this Starbucks store in Japan. Set at the entrance of a Shinto shrine in Dazaifu, and designed by Kengo Kuma and Associates, the woods diagonally creates an impressive lattice that extends beyond the glass facade. It is all about harmonizing with the local townscape, and providing a calm, but distinct resting spot in the area. [Dezeen]
