Takashi Murakami is one of the richest artists. Qatar, rich with oil, is no stranger to splashing out on art. Thus Murakami: Ego, a new exhibition/extravaganza at Doha's Museum of Islamic Art is a match made in heaven. Murakami will be unveiling a number of new works, as well as sharing the sort of big hits you'd expect. He's even painted the exterior of the museum's Al Riwaq Exhibition Hall. Plus, there is a 6 meter tall inflatable portrait sculpture watching over the artist's massive super flat paintings. Awesome.
The exhbition opens tomorrow and runs through June 24, 2012. [Creative Review]
