Born in Tokyo, Tomokazu Matsuyama blends influences from his hometown and his current base, New York City. The sculptor, who has exhibited at SFMOMA and the Portsmouth Museum of Arts, creates stylized compositions which perfectly express the balance of his inspirations. Oddly, Snow Globes provide a perfect stage for Matsu's artistic vision. As such, his collaboration with the Standard NYC, 30 8" tall glass and wood snow globes, makes for a solid expression of his unique aesthetic.
The globes release tonight. Each is signed and numbered and will sell for $350.
