Leonid Nikolaev, freshly appointed as Associate curator of the Berlin Biennale (as member of the Russian collective Viona), was arrested this weekend and abused by police. Demonstrating the illegitimate Russian elections at Puskin Square, Nikolaev was abused, denied a lawyer, and tossed in a cell.
In fantastic fashion Nikolaev then fought his way to freedom. Two escape attempts were thwarted, but on the third try he managed to shed the shackles.
