George Rodrigue painted his first "Blue Dog", based after a Cajun myth, in 1984. Since that time, the painters signature theme has become a New Orleans legend. Ubiquitous to the point that some, as you see here, wish it would fade away.

A nifty bit of tongue-in-cheek street art sees the Blue Dog sentenced to death by passing car. Harsh, but funny. [Wooster Collective]
