CNN Gift Guide Hops On Americana Bandwagon

CNN reports on "Occupy Christmas": a movement to buy only gifts made in the USA. Where have we heard this before?

None

It seems that there's something in the water in Ohio that has folks thinking about where their garments are constructed. CNN reported recently on Alexia Cameron, who started Haute Americana in an effort to promote fashion that is produced right here in the good old U.S. of A. She has aligned with others to create the "Occupy Christmas" movement: a small group of people dedicated to only purchasing gifts this Christmas that are made in America.

If this sounds familiar, it's because Alexia was inspired by Michael Williams' American List on A Continuous Lean according to CNN.  While the article starts about womenswear, the examples of companies making the push to support American manufacturing are all menswear blogger stalwarts: Pointer, UNIS (one of our 25 Best Men's Style Brands of 2011), Red Wing, and Pierrepont Hicks to name a few. So next time someone gives you shit for paying $200+ for some RRL jeans, point them to CNN.com and ask them what THEY are doing for the economy. [CNN]
