At a recent launch in Japan for Levi’s THE OVERALLS ORIGIN initiative, historian Lynn Downey gave a little lesson on the origins of Levi’s denim and the world's oldest pair of jeans, the Levi's "XX" from 1879. It's incredible how jeans were originally made for the hard-working blue collar workers that built this country, but have since become such an iconic piece and a must-have item in everyday casual wardrobes. We're blown away by how identical these first pair of jeans are to our own Levi's—from the fit to the stitching, riveting, 5-pocket design, button-fly, and back patch. Watch the video above to see for yourself.
