Ron English has called Australian-born, New York-based Ian Strange (best known as KID ZOOM), "Rembrandt with a spray can." We're big fans of the painter too.

His New York debut, This City Will Eat Me Alive, was met with rave reviews when it opened last December. And, ZOOM's star will, no doubt, continue to rise through remainder of 2011. He's one of the featured artists in Young and Free: Contemporary Australian Street Art opening this Saturday at San Francisco's 941 Geary Gallery.

Complex met with ZOOM at his Brooklyn studio where the artist shared his thoughts on moving to NYC and the difference between painiting on the street and working on canvas.
