James and Karla Murray went on a mission to document some of New York's last standing mom and pop shops, with blinking signs in vintage typography and small corner stores with cluttered windows. Their book, Store Front - The Disappearing Face of New York, features photos of New York's backbone: the forgotten butcher shops, tailors, bakeries, fabric wholesalers and more. And according to the Murray, over the eight years it took them to complete the project, one third of the stores featured have closed. Where you at, NY? [Amazon + Lost at E Minor]
