Garage Magazine Debut Covers by Damien Hirst, Richard Prince, Nick Knight and Dinos Chapman

The forthcoming, highly-buzzed-about magazine pulled in some of art's biggest names for the cover of its debut issue.

The debut of Dasha Zhukova's Garage Magazine is garnering a ton of industry buzz. Some of this may have to do with Zhukova herself, whose massive fortune, outspoken interest in the art world and former position as editor at POP Magazine has many anxious to see what she has been concocting. But a lot of the controversy comes attached to the magazines three different covers, which feature artwork with a roster full of names names like Damien Hirst, Richard Prince, Hedi Slimane, Nick Knight and Dinos Chapman.

The most controversial (and enticing) of the three covers is the one featuring Damien Hirst and Hedi Slimane. Hirst pursuaded model Shauna Taylor to get her nether region tatted with a signature Damien Hirst butterfly tattoo designed by tattoo artist Mo Coppoletta. This was then photographed by Hedi Slimane and finished off with a peel-away butterfly sticker covering the inked skin, referencing Andy Warhol's famous Velvet Underground album cover.

The first issue of Garage will debut in September. [NY Times and Daily Telegraph UK]
