Think about it. Would you wanna wear a wool beret all day? So why should US soldiers have to?

AFP reports that US soldiers would much rather have patrol caps for everyday wear. One soldier says the beret "does not have a visor and doesn't shield the sun, doesn't absorb sweat well," and another soldier complains, "I hate wearing a wet sock on my head, plus it makes my head/skin break out."

So, not only is the floppy cap a total style fail, it's miserable for the soldiers, who have better things to worry about than what kind of hat their rocking. The unpopularity of the black beret has convinced the Army to switch up the uniform for 1.32 million soldiers. This is good news for everyone, since patrol caps cost less than the berets anyway.
