John Galliano has finally released a statement denying the claims made against him, and takes responsibility for the circumstances that he found himself in. A recap if you don't know what we're talking about: Dior has fired the designer for the alleged racist remarks he made last week, and another incident of anti-Semitism caught on video. Though Galliano has apologized and expressed that he has fought against prejudice his entire life, the fashion world isn't too happy. Out of the influencers who are deeply upset about this whole fiasco, the most important is Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel who is "furious" because, "It’s a horrible image for fashion," and expresses that, "especially today, with the Internet, one has to be more careful than ever, especially if you are a publicly known person." We believe more designers and celebrities will continue to speak out and the anger over John Galliano's behavior could become the biggest ostracization the fashion world has seen.
