Blue Period: Shoegazing With The Meanies From Yellow Submarine

A surreal mash-up of hot kicks, weird figurines, and trippy references to the 1960s.

Many of you have no idea what these images make allusions to but in

1968, a little band called the Beatles made a little animated movie

called Yellow Submarine. Actually, if you really want to split

hairs, the Liverpudlian musicians only participated in the closing

sequence and other actors voiced the characters. To make a long story

even longer (you're welcome!) this fashion story that appeared in our February/March issue,

actually pays homage not to the Beatles themselves but the super weird

evildoers in the cartoon—the Blue Meanies. Check out this clip for a little background on the awesome characters and enjoy shoegazing with some of our favorite kicks.
