Ricky Powell is one of New York City's most original and unique street photographers. He came up with the rise of hip-hop, shooting Run DMC and The Beastie Boys, and later made a name capturing the celebrities, artists and lowlifes that imbued the downtown scene with character. Among his subjects were art world icons like Andy Warhol, Basquiat, and Keith Haring, and rappers Eazy-E, LL Cool J, and KRS-One.
