Sorry kiddos, it's a numbers game. The author and visual statistician David McCandless recently gave a TED talk called "The Beauty of Data Visualizations," a collection of infographics that included this charting of Facebook status updates in relation to breakups over the year. The numbers (and the above graph) show the following: a lot of freedom goes down right before spring break; breakups are usually announced on Mondays; people like to kick off the summer without the old ball and chain; and the lead-up to the Christmas holiday is the most popular time for cleaning out the bedroom. Christmas Day shows the lowest number of breakups all year, which is nice, but we recommend getting out of whatever you're in before you get your ass dumped over the next eight weeks.
