To help fund his laboratory, Michael Davidson, an American research scientist at Florida State University, began photographing images he saw under his microscope: D.N.A., vitamins, and various biochemicals. Most things look pretty crazy close up, and all of this was great, but it wasn't until his business partner pushed him into the idea of magnifying cocktails and other adult beverages a few hundred times that his little business took off. Davidson combines science with art by crystallizing each beverage on a lab slide; then, he passes light through the cocktail "cells" to create awesome images that look like the one above.
