BRAND: Mark McNairy New Amsterdam
SINCE: Fall, 2009
FOUNDED BY: Mark McNairy
HOME BASE: New York
WHY WE CO-SIGN: When asked in an interview about the design process behind his works, Mark McNairy noted, "I really do not design, I un-design." What the New York-based designer and creative director of the Ivy League-inspired clothing brand J.Press is talking about is the way he dissects and reinterprets classic English and American silhouettes to produce quality pieces that appeal to today's style-conscious. This approach is well-reflected in his own footwear collection, Mark McNairy New Amsterdam, which, since debuting last year, has been coveted by men of different ages, tastes, and fashion sensibilities.
The New Amsterdam line is made up of two groups: Red Brick Soul and the New England Collection. The former consists of casual models such as dirty bucks, saddle shoes, chukka boots and loafers that are all outfitted with red brick-colored sole, while the latter is made up of shoes with more formal designs. In short, McNairy's collection offers the best shoes to complete and enhance some of today's most popular looks—whether it's modern prep or Mad Men mania —so whatever style you're going for, you should get familiar.
