Shannon Sharpe has shared his take on recent allegations of friends of Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant having “aggressively confronted” Indiana Pacers staff following last month’s game.

During a recent Undisputed segment with Skip Bayless, Sharpe went long on the allegations, which stem from a report by the Athletic that Morant himself responded to over the weekend.

“Ja is a really good basketball player,” Sharpe said when introducing his remarks. “Ja did everything he could to lift himself and his family out of this type of environment and to get away from this and for some reason he wants to surround himself with these type of people. Why? Bruh, you not hard. That’s not your life. People in that life would give anything to be in your life.”

As previously reported, Morant shared an update to Twitter on Sunday in which he pointed to the league’s investigation into the allegations.

“[D]id a investigation seen they were cappin,” Morant said at the time. “[S]till let a article come out to paint this negative image on me & my fam & banned my brother from home games or a year. [U]nbelievable.”

Per the Athletic, an NBA rep said that their initial inquiry into the allegations showed that “a postgame situation” had occurred, although their findings did not “corroborate that any individual threatened others with a weapon.”

Still, Sharpe had a great deal of criticism to share on Undisputed.

“Stop pretending. … You’re not gon’ do nothing,” he said of the report.  “What’ you’re gon’ do is get yourself in trouble, put yourself and your family in harm’s way, when you don’t have to. Just play basketball.”

In Sharpe’s opinion, “talking is one thing,” while allegations of this nature are another. Reiterating his stance that Morant is putting himself “in harm’s way’ for no reason, Sharpe continued by urging the Grizzlies player to reconsider.

“You pretend like you’re hard but you’re not, Ja,” he said. “You’re opening yourself up, you’re putting yourself in a position you don’t even need to be in. And for what? Street cred? Come on, bruh.”
