Patriots Reportedly Pursued Odell Beckham Jr. Aggressively Last Year

The Gaints did not trade OBJ last season only because Tom Brady and the Patriots were the most aggressive pursuers.

It looks like Odell Beckham Jr.'s time in New York is coming to an end as rumblings that the wide receiver will be traded are getting louder and louder. On Monday, another log was added to the fire when it was revealed that the Patriots were interested in making a trade for OBJ last season.

According to reporter Chris Simms, the New York Giants were committed to trading the superstar receiver. However, the talks to shop OBJ stopped because the team did not want to deal him to New England.

The #Patriots were aggressively trying to trade for #Giants WR Odell Beckham @obj last season and he was close to be traded per @CSimmsQB on @ProFootballTalk

"The thing that stopped the trade conversation with Odell Beckham, Jr. because the team that was most aggressive in perusing him was the New England Patriots," Chris Simms said on ProFootballTalk "The New England Patriots were trying to get Odell Beckham Jr. all last off-season."

Simms' comments add to talks that if Odell is traded from New York he is likely to suit up as a Patriot. These are rumors that neither Beckham nor Brady are shying away from as they have been very friendly on social media.

So this happened tonight. Crazier things have happened. If the #Giants want to trade Odell, the #Patriots make a lot of sense. His contract is very team friendly. Belichick has a good relationship with the Giants. pic.twitter.com/8HYC1d1EtD
