LeBron James #23 of the Los Angeles Lakers and Luke Walton talk

The Lakers recent struggles have given birth to reports that there is a growing rift between LeBron and the team's coach Luke Walton. But, during an interview with TMZ Sports, Walton let it be known that he and arguably the world's best basketball player are in a great space.

"I don't know anything about that," Walton responded when asked about any possible friction with James. "LeBron and I get along just fine."

The stories surrounding James and Walton add to the growing discourse that the Lakers have lost momentum and lost chemistry. These rumors first began when LeBron went down with a groin injury in late Dec. In addition to James' absence, it is said that many of the Lakers' young core players took objection to Los Angeles' bid for Anthony Davis. This has led the Lakers to fall from the fourth spot in the West to the tenth, causing many people, like LaVar Ball, to suggest a coaching change.

Despite this, Walton beamed with optimism when talking about the Lakers' season with TMZ.

"You have to ask them. It didn't affect me," Walton said in regards to how the AD trade rumors may have impacted the locker room before speaking on the Lakers' chances at making the playoffs.

"We got some work to do," Walton explained. "But, we'll do it."
