The offseason is setting up to be a time for plenty of change within the Seahawks organization. After letting go of Michael Bennett, it looks Seattle may soon be without Richard Sherman's services as well, according to reports of him texting his teammates goodbye and some tweets that imply his departure.
The cornerback is reportedly meeting with the team's management to figure out his future with the team following reports that they were looking to trade him. The Seahawks haven't said much about Sherman's future, but considering Sherman is still in the process of recovering from an injury, it doesn't seem too promising. His 2017 season ended early after rupturing his Achilles tendon in Week 10.
Sherman has reportedly already texted teammates to let them know he probably wasn't going to return, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, so they may have already come to a decision. "Those close to him say nothing is set in stone and there has been no official word," Rapoport said on Twitter.
Teammates Kam Chancellor and Jeremy Lane hopped on Twitter to share their disappointment. "That text message got my heart hurting," Lane said, probably referring to Sherman's reported goodbye texts. "[D]amn 25 was my Dawg." Fans started coming to their own conclusions about what might be going on, but conflicting insider reports have only made it even more confusing.
