Shaq and Charles Barkley Laughed Off the Whole Rockets-Clippers Fiasco

Shaq and Charles Barkley couldn't stop laughing after hearing about how Rockets players tried to storm the Clippers' locker room.

If you somehow haven’t heard by now, Chris Paul and his Rockets teammates attempted to storm the Clippers’ locker room after losing to Los Angeles at the Staples Center on Monday night. CP3 reportedly led James Harden, Trevor Ariza, and Gerald Green through some kind of "secret tunnel" inside of the bowels of the arena in the hopes of confronting Austin Rivers and Blake Griffin about some things they said and did during the course of the game. They were ultimately unsuccessful thanks to security and police officers who responded to the scene and prevented them from gaining access to the locker room, but that probably isn’t going to stop the NBA from fining and/or suspending the players for what they tried to do.

The situation involving Rockets and Clippers players could have potentially been serious. While there’s a chance that no altercation would have taken place even if the Rockets players had entered the Clippers’ locker room, a big brawl could have happened and resulted in some troubling consequences. But despite the seriousness of the situation, NBA fans lost their minds over it and pulled out all the memes to make light of it. Inside the NBA analysts Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley also didn’t seem to take the fiasco too seriously.

As Inside the NBA prepared to sign off very early Tuesday morning, Ernie Johnson brought up some of the details concerning the near-fight between the Rockets and Clippers as they became available. Shaq and the Chuckster responded by, well, laughing. The two former NBA players couldn’t contain themselves as they entertained the idea of Clippers players calling the cops to report a break-in inside of their locker room.

"I played in the NBA for 16 years. I’ve been on TV for 18 years. This is the first time I’ve heard [about] police presence [in an NBA locker room]," Barkley said. "They got a police presence? Are you kidding me?"

"Hello, police," Shaq added, in between bursts of uncontrollable laughter. "Chris Paul is trying to beat me up!"

At the end of the day, nothing actually happened between the Rockets and Clippers, so these jokes are all in good fun. But those in the NBA league office probably aren’t laughing right now, and it’s going to be interesting to see how they decide to handle the actions of the Rockets and Clippers players. You are likely going to see some serious fines come out to stop this kind of stuff from happening again, especially since the Rockets and Clippers are scheduled to meet for another matchup at the Staples Center in a matter of about a month.
