The Bucks are currently 23-22, which is good for 8th place in the Eastern Conference. In addition to that lackluster showing, Kidd reportedly "frayed relationships" within the organization:

Bucks made move on Kidd based upon dropping into the 8th seed in the East, frayed relationships in organization and general non-alignment, league sources tell ESPN. Bucks job will be most sought after of offseason, largely because of @Giannis_An34.

Since being traded to Milwaukee from Brooklyn for two second-round picks, Kidd was 160-168 and had helped lead his young squads to the playoffs twice (in 2015 and 2017) where they were eliminated in the first round.
