The Nashville Predators' P.K. Subban is one of the most explosive defensemen in the NHL. He's also one of the biggest characters in the league. Subban has a reputation for going hard to spread joy in his community on the holidays, and this year was no exception.
Subban's personality and spirit were on full display as he dressed up in old-man garb—he got the full Uncle Drew treatment—and paraded around Nashville as "Eddie." Check out Eddie's adventures above, in a video that's sure to get you in the holiday spirit.
"Eddie is 75 years old," Subban explains of his character in the video, as he gets done up. "He is from Nashville, he's from Tennessee so he's going to have a bit of an accent. I don't know how good his accent is but he's gonna have one."
With a balding head, white hair, a burly beard, glasses, and a sweater, Subban distributed candy canes, gifts, hugs and Christmas cheer to the people of Nashville. Eddie, a real entertainer, even hit the bars for some dancing.
Then, Eddie and his crew hooked up an underprivileged local family—a family that had taken part in Subban and the Predators' Blue Line Buddies program—with a new living room, new appliances, and a whole bunch of gifts. They filled the family's house with cheer.
"They have no idea that we're doing this," Subban said. "Hopefully it's an emotional and amazing surprise for them."
Indeed, it was quite a surprise.
Subban also sent gifts back to his friends at the children's hospital in Montreal, where he spent the first seven years of his career.
